Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of the Life Skills Program?

The Life Skills Program is designed to increase independence by promoting decision-making and problem solving, enhancing socialization and communication skills, and fostering the growth of confidence and self-advocacy.

The program is ideal for individuals ages 18-30 who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, are unable to attend traditional day programs, and would benefit from structured, hands-on learning. This includes individuals with diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, and other developmental delays who are working toward greater independence.

We cover a wide range of skills based on each learner’s current abilities and future goals across categories such as self-management, time management, money management, home care skills, and personal safety.

Each participant begins with a personalized intake assessment. From there, we develop a skills plan tailored to their unique strengths, needs, and goals. Progress is reviewed regularly and shared with families to ensure continuous growth.

Each day includes a mix of structured instruction, hands-on practice, and engaging activities. Daily sessions are six hours long (9:00 am to 3:00 pm) Monday through Friday. Breaks, visual supports, and positive reinforcement are built into every session.

Our program is led by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and staffed by Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). Staff are experienced in working with individuals with developmental disabilities and are committed to creating a supportive and safe environment for every participant.

To promote socialization and generalization of skills, the current staffing ratios are 1:3 (one technician to three participants) under the supervision of one BCBA. Lower staffing ratios (including 1:1) may be available for an increased cost based on staff availability.

No, this is a non-medical, private-pay program focused on teaching life skills. While it is grounded in the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA), the focus is on skill-building using the science of ABA. Our aim is to teach meaningful, functional skills that promote greater independence.

Enrollment begins with a simple inquiry form or phone consultation. Then, an intake meeting is scheduled to assess the participant’s current skill level, interests, and support needs. If the program is a good fit, we work together to create a start date and plan for success.

This is a private-pay program and is not covered by insurance. However, we are happy to provide documentation for participants seeking reimbursement through self-directed services, waivers, or other funding sources. We also offer flexible payment options. We are also exploring the possibility of becoming a DDS provider to lessen the out-of-pocket commitment for families. The current cost of the program is $ 3200 per month, based on full-time enrollment. Part-time pricing (two or three days per week) is available on request.

Progress is measured using data collection, observational notes, and standardized skill assessments.

Our team has significant experience supporting learners with challenging behavior and are trained in crisis management. Please schedule a free consultation to determine if your learner’s behavioral needs can be fully supported in this program.

We offer a free consultation and intake process to ensure we are a mutual fit.

Aligning Hope is currently gauging interest and planning to begin offering the program January 2026
